Briana Whaley

MDiv, MPC, Master's Level Student Intern

Briana Whaley is a dedicated clinical mental health professional with almost 20 years of experience in the field of clinical chaplaincy. Armed with a Master of Divinity from the Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond and a Master’s in Patient Counseling from VCU/MCV, Briana expertly weaves spiritual and emotional guidance to help clients heal and grow. She has experience helping clients process grief, navigate life transitions, and cope with chronic illness. She is a certified SYMBS premarital facilitator. 

Briana is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Liberty University, Briana continuously seeks new ways to deepen her expertise. She has completed four units of Clinical Pastoral Education and is board-certified by the Association of Professional Chaplains.

Having been an elite long-distance runner and having competed in the U.S. Olympic Trials for the Marathon, Briana understands the importance of persistence, resilience, and goal-setting. She brings the same drive and determination to her work, ensuring each client receives the support and encouragement needed for their journey towards healing. Her calming presence and empathetic approach to person-centered counseling allow her clients to feel relaxed and comfortable in their sessions with her. She describes her approach to counseling as “meeting people where they are on their journey without judgment and coming alongside them in their times of celebration and crisis.”
