Jocelyn Hofstede

MS, Licensed Mental Health Counselor

Jocelyn holds a Masters of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Hodges University. Additionally, she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Nonprofit Management Certification from the University of Central Florida. After a decade of working with vulnerable and high-risk populations within the nonprofit industry, she felt a calling to return to school in pursuit a career as a clinical mental health counselor.

Jocelyn has had the privilege of working with individuals from diverse cultural, religious, and economic backgrounds. She is driven by a desire to help others discover connection, peace, and self-actualization. She enjoys working with adolescents and adults on a broad range of presenting issues and has clinical interests in working with self-esteem, stress, grief and loss, and interpersonal concerns.  

Jocelyn’s approach is influenced by a humanistic school of thought, and she employs a person-centered approach to counseling. Her highest priority in the counseling setting is to cultivate a warm, non-judgmental, empathetic, and safe environment for her clients. She believes that all humans are unique and hold a unique worldview and that people are not defined by their past but by whom they are striving to become in the present. Jocelyn views her role in the therapy setting as a helper assisting clients in finding lasting solutions that bring empowerment beyond one specific situation.  

Additionally, she utilizes techniques from modalities such as Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
